Indonesia considers coal export slowdown
JAKARTA, Feb. 4 (UPI) -- Indonesia, the world's third-largest coal exporter, plans to gradually cease its coal exports to save for its future needs, says a government official. The National Energy Board, or DEN, is now putting together such a recommendation to be submitted to the government this month, state-owned news agency ANTARA reports.

Sail Banda projected to attract 6,000 tourists
Jakarta (ANTARA News) -The Maluku provincial administration has expressed optimism that the international marine event Sail Banda 2010 would attract around 6,000 tourists to the province. "Our target is that around 5,000 up to 6,000 domestic as well as foreign tourists will come to Maluku during the event, scheduled for July to August this year," Maluku Culture and Tourism office spokesperson Florence Sahusilawane said here on Thursday.

The government has revoked at least 715 regional bylaws which were considered to have hindered investment in Indonesia within the first 100 days of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's second-term administration. “The revocation of the 715 problematic bylaws constituted a part of the agenda of the first 100 days of the government,” Kuntoro Mangukusubroto, head of the presidential development supervision and control taskforce, said as quoted by Antara state news agency in Jakarta on Friday.

Industry minister to relax SNI certification procedures
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Industry Minister MS Hidayat said he would relax the SNI standardization procedures as a means of protecting the country`s industries by conducting cooperation with private research institutions and assessment agencies. "I want the procedures of SNI (Standar Nasional Indonesia) certification not to be done in the `business as usual` ways as is the case now," he said after the ministry`s working meeting here on Thursday.

Only serious investors permitted to invest in food estates
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The government will not issue licenses to develop food estates in Merauke, Papau, to investors who will only sell the permits to others, Agriculture Minister Suswono said here on Thursday. "The licenses will only be given to serious investors," he said on the sidelines of a ministry meeting. He said investors who had applied for such licenses were now still candidates so the opportunity to obtain a license was still open to other investors.

Singapore investor to invest Rp400 billion in dump site
Tangerang (ANTARA News) - A Singaporean investor will soon invest Rp400 billion in the construction of a dump site at Cipeucang, Serpong subdistrict, South Tangerang municipality, Banten province, an official said. Head of the South Tangerang Municipal Cleanliness, Park and Funeral Services Didi S Wijaya said the local authorities had prepared 2.4 hectares of land for the construction of the dump site.

Hitachi intends to raise investment in Indonesia

SBY orders envoys to attract more foreign investment
Indonesian diplomacy should aim to attract more foreign investment to help reach economic growth of 7 percent in 2014, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono told around 200 Indonesian envoys.
