Will Indonesia be the world’s fifth largest economy?

They began adding “I” (for Indonesia) to the emerging BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, and China) countries, to make BRICI or IBRIC.

Indonesian Infrastructure PPP Projects Delayed
Jakarta. The government is unlikely to tender five infrastructure projects worth $4.44 billion that were offered through a pilot public-private partnership program this year because a key regulation is not yet ready, an official said on Friday. Gita Wirjawan, chief of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), told the Jakarta Globe that the revision was necessary to give the board a stronger legal framework to arrange licenses and other administrative procedures for investors.

News Focus: Economic zones designed to improve locals` welfare
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - If successful, the government`s plan to divide the country`s economic development into economic zones and clusters will create jobs for members of the local community for mutual welfare. Called "Indonesia Economic Corridor 2011," the economic zone projects, which are now under discussion with the relevant ministries, are expected to start in 2011 and to be finished in 2025.

Unemployed Bachelor Degree Holders Apprehensive: Muhaimin
Semarang, Central Java (ANTARA News) - The number of unemployed bachelor degree holders had reached an apprehensive level, Minister of Manpower and Transmigration Muhaimin Iskandar said here on Sunday. "Many of our bachelor degree holders does not have sufficient skills to work in the field effectively," Muhaimin said, adding that the phenomena might be the result of the fact that university curriculum failed to fully met demands from the job market.

Jamsostek has 9.12 million active participants
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The number of active participants of the workers social insurance company PT Jamsostek has up to September 2010 reached 9.12 million, an increase compared to last year`s 8 million, the company said a press release on Sunday. It said that the number of its passive participants were recorded at 21.83 million. Active companies registering their workers with the insurance totaled 129,293 while the non-active ones numbered 89,394.

Aceh govt not to shut down iron ore mining
Banda Aceh, Aceh (ANTARA News) - Aceh Governor Irwandi Yusuf said the local government will not shut down PT Lhong Setia Mining`s iron ore mining activities in Aceh Besar district following a report the company dumped mud into rice field. "So far PT Lhong Setia Mining has not committed any violation that may prompt the Aceh administration to revoke its operational permit," he said here on Sunday.

Govt planning us$60 billion economic corridors
Bandarlampung, Lampung (ANTARA News) - The government is discussing a US$60 billion worth of economic corridor development plan which will divide the country`s economic development areas into economic zones and clusters beginning in 2011, Chief Economic Minister Hatta Rajasa said.
