Indonesian Labor Minister Vows to Bring End to Outsourcing
Jakarta. The minister of manpower on Thursday vowed to “eventually” abolish labor outsourcing, starting with restrictions on the scope of the practice. “I myself will issue a ministerial regulation to restrict outsourcing,” Muhaimin Iskandar said in Surabaya. “First I will reduce it, then eventually it will disappear.” In Indonesia, outsourcing refers to the hiring of workers on a contractual basis, often through a provider company.

Japanese Firms Eye Energy, Infrastructure Projects Here
Jakarta. A number of Japanese companies are mulling investments in Indonesia, including energy and infrastructure projects, with cooperation from government officials in both countries. Japan and Indonesia will cooperate on developing power, port and road projects, according to government documents.

Indonesia ready to ratify OIC`s preferential trade arrangement
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia is ready to ratify the Preferential Trade Arrangement (PTA) of the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC), a trade ministry official said. The trade ministry`s director general of international trade cooperation, Gusmardi Bustami, said here on Thursday the ratification would increase the country`s trade relations with OIC members.

Singapore Eyes Indonesian-Produced Electronic Spare Parts
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Indonesian Trade Attaché in Singapore, Djunari, said Singapore will look at the electronic spare parts booth in the 2010 Trade Expo Indonesia which will take place in Jakarta. The trade expo, involving 810 participants, 500 of whom come from 20 countries, is estimated to be visited by 8.000 potential buyers. The total transaction during the five-day event is expected to reach US$300 million.

PLN Urged to Buy Geothermal Electricity
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The Indonesian Geothermal Association chairman, Surya Darma urged the government to instruct state-run electricity company PT PLN to buy geothermal electricity. The reason was that although the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry Regulation no. 32/2009 on the price of geothermal electricity has been issued, PLN still has not implemented it. Surya said the regulation sets the geothermal electricity price at US$ 9,7 cent per kWh.
