Palm oil firm plans 3 more processing plants and refinery

Publicly listed palm oil firm PT Sinar Mas Agro Resources and Technology (SMART) will spend Rp 920b (US$92m) in capital expenditure this year. Smart director Jimmy Pramono said after a shareholders' meeting on Monday that the company was planning to build three new processing plants this year with a total investment of Rp 390 billion. He elaborated that one plant would be located in Kalimantan with a total capacity of 180,000 tons a year.

Q2, Q3 economy to see more consumption and investment

Aditya Suharmoko, The Jakarta Post, Jakarta Indonesia’s economy in the next six months will be supported by strong consumption and more investment, acting Coordinating Minister for the Economy Sri Mulyani Indrawati says. “Investment is forecast to recover in the second and third quarters, along with increasing confidence as seen from the (recent) rise in market capitalization,” Mulyani said Monday.

Infrastructure in Indonesia remains a crucial problem hampering growth, the government admitted recently in response to an assessment conducted by the Swiss-based International Institute for Management Development (IMD). “Infrastructure is still [the government’s] imperative, although overall it has improved,” said Bambang Susantono, the deputy to the coordinating minister for the economy, in charge of infrastructure, on Monday.

International Label on Hospital Should be Based on Investment

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The Health Department has determined that the label international on hospitals must be based on the value of foreign investment in the hospital concerned. The Health Department’s Medical Services Management Directorate General secretary, Mulya Hasmi, said hospitals having 35 percent of their assets as foreign investment would be categorized as international.
