The existence of the informal sector is often forgotten
Didit Eko Setiawan , Jakarta According to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the unemployment rate decreased in February 2008 compared to that in February 2007. How could that be possible? The reason is the number of unemployed absorbed by that tough and self-reliant sector - the informal sector. Facts show that annually, there are 70 percent of people working in the informal sector and only 30 percent people working in the formal sector. It seems unbelievable.

Veep: Shell ready to move to Indonesia
The Hague (ANTARA News) - Vice President Jusuf Kalla said here on Sunday that Shell Royal Dutch oil company had expressed its readiness to move its oil processing operations to Indonesia. "In a meeting over dinner Shell has expressed its readiness for it," he said after visiting the port in Rotterdam. Dutch prime minister Jan Peter Balkenender in a meeting with Kalla earlier said that Shell wished to take part in the tender for the exploitation of the Natuna D Alpha Block.

Veep calls for speedy development of Tanjungpriok port
Rotterdam (ANTARA News) - Vice President Jusuf Kalla has called for a speedy completion of the development of Tanjungpriok port in Jakarta into an international export-import center and a national transit port. "Step up the realization of the project, and whenever possible finish the job in three years of the scheduled five years," he said after visiting the Rotterdam port in the Netherlands on Sunday. "Imagine the Rotterdam port is 40 kilometers in width, but it is clean and orderly," he said.
