Removing the clogs

Culture and Tourism Minister Jero Wacik and Justice and Human Rights Minister Patrialis Akbar painfully discovered Sunday that most of the computers for processing visas on arrival at the immigration counters of Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali were out of order. This certainly caused long lines of exhausted, weary visitors waiting through the slow manual process.

Govt stricter on fruit and vegetable imports

On the grounds of helping to prevent imports of fruits and vegetables potentially carrying hazardous chemical residues, the Agriculture Ministry has imposed a ministerial regulation requiring the products to meet internationally-recognized safety standards. The regulation was first introduced in August but will be effective as from Nov. 19.

BIN obliged to safeguard economy: Sutanto

The newly appointed State Intelligence Agency chief Gen. (ret) Sutanto said he would add a new post for a deputy for economic affairs in an attempt to prevent any economic disasters that could potentially threaten Indonesia’s sovereignty. “Besides the existing fields such as in matters of security and defense, we are also obliged to prevent economic catastrophes from occurring.
