China Interested in Investing in Infrastructure and Electricity Projects

TEMPO Interactive, Singapore:Chinese president Hu Jintao has promised to participate in building the infrastructure sector in Indonesia and to invest in energy projects. This was communicated by Industry Minister M. Hidayat during breaks at the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting in Singapore, last week. “This was what the Chinese president told President Yudhoyono," he said.

Carrefour to Promote Locally-grown Fruits

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:PT Carrefour Indonesia President Director, Shafie Shamsuddin, promised to introduce locally-grown fruits as exports through thousands of Carrefour supermarkets spread worldwide. “Indonesian fruits are considered halal-guaranteed and clean,” he said on Saturday. Demand for Indonesian fruits according to Shafie, comes not only from the Middle East but also from Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Japan.

Chinese technical equipment and commodity expo to be held in Indonesia

JAKARTA, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese technical equipment and commodity expo will be held here from Nov. 19 to 22, expected to bolster trade and business ties between China and Indonesia, the organizing committee said in a statement on Sunday. The upcoming 8th Chinese technical equipment and commodity expo, supported by the Chinese Trade Ministry and Shanghai Commercial Committee, is scheduled to be held in Jakarta International Expo, and it is expected to raise transactions up to 20 million U.

Indonesia: All Food Estate Output to Be Exported

Large-scale commercial producers of food crops, such as rice, soybeans and corn, will only be able to sell their produce on export markets, the government said on Friday. The government said it would issue a regulation in February covering so-called food estates, large-scale commercial farms, before the end of its first 100 days program. The regulation was initially due to be issued in October 2008 but has been delayed many times.

ASEAN-6 to achieve zero-tariff in January 2010

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Six ASEAN member states will achieve their zero-tariff target for all merchandises moving across their borders as of January 1, 2010. "This definitely calls for an ASEAN celebration," said Dr. Surin Pitsuwan, Secretary-General of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the ASEAN Secretariat said in its statement in Jakarta, Saturday.
