RI paves way for domestic carbon credit market
The forestry ministry is drafting a proposal to facilitate growth of a domestic voluntary carbon trading market, while regulated markets are demanding for local firms to administer and uncertain after 2012. The plan emerges as a response to the state of the current international carbon credit market, which is considered too costly and complex by local industry players interested in sustainable development projects.

India, Indonesia Set To Launch Talks For Free Trade Agreement
(RTTNews) - Following India-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement, India and Indonesia are set to begin talks for initiating trade in goods and services, reported the media. A Joint Study Group (JSG) that was set to explore the feasibility of a Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA), recommended full fledged talks to negotiate a deal that could result in raising two-way merchandise trade to $20 billion by 2020.

Singapore Moves to End Tax-Haven Accusations
Singapore. Singapore has passed a law tightening the screws on cross-border tax cheats and complying with stricter standards for world banking centers, the finance ministry said on Tuesday. The move is the latest measure by Southeast Asia’s financial capital, which denies being a haven for tax evaders, to get itself off a grey list of countries that have not fully implemented standards.

$10b needed for new power plants: PLN
State power firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) and independent private power producers (IPPs) will need about US$10 billion for power plant construction in the second phase of the 10,000 megawatt (MW) power program. Aside from funds to construct power plants, funds will also be needed for other areas of work, PLN president director Fahmi Mochtar said Tuesday, which would mean that total associated investment would have to be much higher than $10 billion.

Power crisis exacerbates in NTB, Lampung
Customers of state electricity company PT PLN in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) and Lampung protested the frequent blackouts in their areas, claiming they had led to significant losses. Law practitioners and non-governmental group activists, naming themselves the NTB Power Users Advocating Coalition, on Monday protested the worsening blackouts at the NTB PLN office in Mataram. "Rotating blackouts often take place at random and PLN has never informed customers of the reasons behind this.

Dairy tariff cut will not hurt Indonesian producers: NZ minister
New Zealand Trade Minister Tim Groser assured Indonesian dairy producers on Tuesday that the elimination of import tariffs on dairy products from New Zealand to Indonesia under the ASEAN free trade framework would not affect local farmers. Indonesia's farmers have voiced fears that the tariff elimination will be followed by an influx of New Zealand dairy products, further hurting their sales.
