Charoen sees '08 net profit at $47.6M
Agro and aqua-culture firm PT Charoen Pokphand Indonesia expects its net profit to more than double to Rp450 billion ($47.6 million) this year on higher sales and prices of animal feed and poultry, the company said on Tuesday, Reuters reported. Sales of poultry feed and chicken have been increasing as rising beef prices have prompted consumers to consume more poultry, said Thomas Effendy, Charoen's vice president.

Microsoft Indonesia chalks up 30% rise in income
Microsoft Indonesia posted a 30% in income in its book year ending June 2008 compared with the previous book year, Asia Pulse reported. The income growth in Indonesia was higher than the growth Microsoft recorded in its global operations in the same period, Tony Chen, the company's director, said without giving figures.

Number of foreign projects in Batam up 18%
The number of foreign projects in Batam approved by the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) from January to August this year rose 18% to 54 from 34 in the same period last year, Asia Pulse reported. The 54 projects are worth $65.934 million, while 15 more projects to expand existing operations are valued at $179.310 million, the Batam Authority's chief of marketing and public relations, Rustam Hutapea, said on Friday.

Beef import to soar on higher demand as local supply falters
