Foreign arrivals up 11.4 percent on retraction of U.S. warning

The Jakarta Post, Jakarta Indonesia, Southeast Asia's largest economy, saw a 11.4 percent jump in foreign tourist arrivals during the first seven months of the year due in part to better security and a prodigious advertising campaign. The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) revealed tourist arrivals soared to 3.47 million in the first seven months of the year from 3.2 million in the same period last year.

Internal controls 'key' to fighting corruption: Anwar Suprijadi

In 2006, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati appointed Anwar Suprijadi as the ministry's director general of customs and excise. Anwar has since striven to cleanse his office of corruption. A substantial task considering numerous independent surveys had labeled it one of the most corrupt institutions in the state. Recently, The Jakarta Post spoke with Anwar regarding his reputation as a "clean" person., and his capacity to improve the customs office.

Originally Posted By: viperaberushitam Who thought up this one, it has a strong stench of abuse and bullshit around it........... to the extent that they believe their own bullshit, these guys are for real. we shall be hearing a lot more about these carbon trading schemes over the next years. they are already flourishing in the 'civilized' world (europe, australia). the problem in indonesia, of course, is just because you own the land does not mean you own the rights to the trees atop of it.
