Global Obsession

Reza V. Maspaitella owns the first integrated outsourcing company in Indonesia with a focus on banking, finance and insurance. Now, it's his obsession to go global. The 18th floor of his Kuningan office is packed. The walls are brightly decorated and cubicles are full of employees busy receiving telephone calls. This is the Jakarta contact center for PT Valdo International, an outsourcing company for banks and insurance companies owned by Reza V. Maspaitella.

An empire built from a superstition

After gaining valuable experience working for his uncle's cigarette company, Surya set up his home business, Pabrik Rokok Tjap Gudang Garam, on a 1,000-square-meter plot of land in Kediri, East Java. He initially employed only 50 people, most of them poached from his uncle's company.

Sugar Palm to be Gasoline

Johan Mononutu from North Sulawesi has discovered sugar palm as a potential ethanol. “Only the sugar palm which has turned to acid can be made into ethanol,” said Johan to Tempo, Sunday (3/8). The commissioner of PT Seho Energi presented his theory in Bandung for two days recently.
