Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia intends to study Brazil`z success in developing ethyl alcohol as an ethanol-based alternative energy source. The intention was expressed in a memorandum of understanding (MoU) which was signed by Indonesia`s Agriculture Minister Anton Apriantono and Brazilian Foreign Minister Foreign Minister Celso Amorim at the State Palace here on Saturday.

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Chairman of Indonesia`s Motor Vehicle Industries Association (Gaikindo), Bambang Trisulo, said that the Thai government`s policy to produce `eco car` could threaten Indoneia`s automotive industries. "It is a threat to us if Thailand has begun to produce eco cars. Therefore Indonesia should also think of producing the same products with the support of the same policy from the government," he said here on Saturday.

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and his Indonesian counterpart pledged cooperation on biofuels during talks here yesterday in a bid to take advantage of surging oil prices. Lula and President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono signed off on an agreement to share knowledge on biofuel technology after meeting at Jakarta's presidential palace.
