CBM investors to get more certainty

A revision to a ministerial decree on coalbed methane (CBM) mining to be signed tomorrow promises more certainties to investors, but more issues need to be followed up, a minister says. Director of Oil and Gas at the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry Luluk Sumiarso said the new regulation would allow new investors the chance to bid for mining rights, which are currently exclusive to contract land owners.

Indonesia remains attractive to expansion-minded multi-national firms despite global fallout from the U.S.' sub-prime crisis, a survey reveals. According to a report by global real estate management firm Jones Lang LaSalle, of 15 nations surveyed in the Asia-Pacific region, Indonesia ranks sixth in a list of top destinations for business expansions -- ahead of Malaysia, Australia, Cambodia, Japan, Korea, Thailand and Hong Kong.

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - A reform push by leaders in Indonesia has substantially improved the performance of government and cut into corruption in Southeast Asia's largest economy, the World Bank said Wednesday. The bank's Worldwide Governance Indicators (WGI) report found governance had improved significantly in Indonesia in the 10 years of "reformasi" since the 1998 ouster of dictator Suharto, a statement said.
