Foreign arrivals up 15.7 percent, but EU visitors wane on airline ban

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) said Friday Indonesia saw a 15.7 percent jump in the number of foreign arrivals to 1.41 million in the first quarter of 2008 from 1.22 million in the same period last year. In March alone, the number of foreign arrivals hit 502,000, up by 13.30 percent from 443,100 in the same month last year.

RI's first quarter exports grow 31.7%

A resources-based commodities boom has boosted the country's export figures in the first quarter of this year by 31.7 percent, the latest survey reveals. The latest data from the Central Statistic Agency (BPS) show Indonesia's exports climbed to US$33.6 billion in the first quarter of 2008 from $25.5 billion in the same period last year thanks to a surge in crude oil prices.

Australian trade minister attends ASEAN economic ministers meeting

Denpasar (ANTARA News) - Australian Trade Minister Simon Crean is taking part in the ASEAN Economic Ministers - Closer Economic Relations (AEM-CER) consultations in Nusa Dua, Bali, on Saturday. The meeting is being attended by 14 economic ministers from ASEAN and ministers of four countries outside ASEAN. Australia is pressing hard to finalize negotiations this year on the Australia-ASEAN-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (AANZFTA).

Indonesian exports seen bouncing back in March on stronger oil, gas prices

If I'm not mistaken, Indonesia is net oil importer. Thus, actually the situation just got worse not better after the price increase.
