Saipem spends Rp 2.5t for largest fabrication yard in Karimun, Riau

Italian-based turnkey oil and gas contractor Saipem International has begun construction of a massive fabrication yard in Karimun, Riau Islands, with a total project investment of Rp 2.5 trillion (US$271 million). During the launch ceremony of the ground-breaking facility Friday, Saipem offshore general manager Yves Inbona told the press the yard would be the company's largest production facility of its kind.

Indonesian, Norwegian employers to train local entrepreneurs

Two leading employers associations in Indonesia and Norway will conduct brand leadership training for small and medium scale entrepreneurs and facilitate exports of their products to Scandinavian countries. Tax revenue soars on back of higher corporate income

The Ministry of Finance's Directorate General of Taxation announced Friday a 42.7 percent jump in tax revenue during the first quarter of 2008 on the back of strong corporate sector income growth and a vibrant economy. Tax revenue from the non-oil and gas sector rose to Rp 113.53 trillion (US$12.3 billion) between January and March, up from Rp 79.55 trillion in the same period last year, director general of taxation Darmin Nasution said.

Govt to activate aging fields under new regulation

Novia D.Rulistia, The Jakarta Post, Jakarta To optimize the country's crude oil production, the government will activate 5,000 aging fields under the newly issued 2008 Minister Regulation, says an official. "There are more than 13,000 aging fields in the country, 5,000 of which could produce 5,000 to 12,000 barrels per day (bpd)," director general for oil and gas Luluk Sumiarso said Friday. The regulation was issued to help the country meet its crude oil lifting target after years of failure.
