NTS to invest US$1 bln to expand coverage area

Jakarta (ANTARA News/Asia Pulse) - The operator of the third generation (3G) telecommunication service PT Natrindo Telepon Seluler (NTS) said it plans to invest US$1 billion this year for the expansion of infrastructure networks building more base transceiver stations (BTS) in Java and Sumatra, according to NTS President Erik Aas.

Padang, W Sumatra (ANTARA News) - West Sumatra is to export, for the first time, 30 tons of tuna fish to the United States through Padang`s Bungus ocean fishing port at the end of April, a local fisheries official said. "PT Dempo which has been assigned to conduct the fish export has expressed its readiness, and the company now only needs to prepare a 40-foot container for the purpose," Yosmeri, head of the provincial marine and fisheries office said here Thursday.

The city mining agency will soon audit businesses that use both groundwater and tap water, agency head Peni Susanti said Wednesday. She said 3,655 businesses held agency-issued permits to use groundwater, 70 percent of which also had artesian wells. New Zealand-based milk producer Fonterra Group says it is unlikely to invest in processing facilities in Indonesia as the climate and environmental conditions are less than ideal for breeding cows and milk of its desired standards. "We choose to expand our investment in countries which have cooler climates, such as China, Australia and North America," managing director for Asia, Middle East and Africa, Mark Wilson said Tuesday.

Five insurance companies from France, Singapore, the United Kingdom, Italy and Malaysia are seeking local partners to tap the increasingly lucrative Indonesian life insurance industry, an insurance association says. Indonesia self-sufficient in chicken meat, eggs but industry not progressing

Solo, Central Java (ANTARA News) - Indonesia has been self-sufficient in chicken meat and eggs for years but the domestic poultry industry is not making progress, Agriculture Minister Anton Apriyantono said. "The country has been sufficiently meeting its own need for chicken meat and eggs for the past few years but poultry breeders should now orient their businesses to oversea destinations," the minister told at a seminar on poultry business at Hotel Lor here on Wednesday.
