Government Mulls to Use Biofuel to Generate Energy

Businesses give mixed reaction as provinces raise minimum wages

Tifa Asrianti, The Jakarta Post, Jakarta Several provinces have announced a significant rise in workers’ minimum wage, but the amount of the increase is facing opposition from certain business groups. Workers in Jakarta will get a 10 percent increase in the minimum wage, from the current Rp 972,604 (US$89.22) to Rp 1,069,865 next year. Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo said Friday the raise had been agreed to by wage councils, labor unions and business associations.
