Ease of Business in Indonesia Improves

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Ease of doing business in Indonesia is showing an increase compared to previous years. The latest report of the World Bank and the International Finance Company entitled “Doing Business 2008” says that out of the 178 countries that were surveyed, ease of doing business in Indonesia is in 123rd place, an improvement compared to the previous position of 135th last year.

Travel Mart marts Bali's rebound, says Kalla

The kickoff Wednesday of the 2007 Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Travel Mart in Bali marks the return of the island as a major world tourist destination. Bali, the country's best-known tourist destination, has struggled to recover from the aftermath of the terrorist bombings in 2002 and 2005, which seriously damaged the tourism industry. However, two years after the most recent bombings, Bali won its bid to host the PATA Travel Mart over destinations in China and India.

Another survey -- this time from the World Bank -- has confirmed that starting a business in Indonesia has become more difficult due to additional red tape, despite the country having improved its overall business and investment climate.

WB suggests Indonesia amend limited liability company law

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The World Bank has suggested that the Indonesian government and the House of Representatives (DPR) amend the newly-enacted law on limited liability companies, particularly regarding clauses on minimum capital requirements (MCR). "I think the Doing Business Report published by IFC (International Finance Corporation) and the World Bank will explain what the government can do to increase the ease of doing business in Indonesia.
