Indofood books record sales growth in 2006

The world's largest instant noodle producer, PT Indofood Sukses Makmur, reported record sales growth in 2006, which the company attributed in part to improved marketing strategies. President director and CEO Anthoni Salim said that consolidated net sales rose by about 17 percent to Rp 21.94 trillion (about US$2.4 billion), the highest rate of growth for the last 13 years.

High-powered Korean delegation to visit RI

A high-powered South Korean delegation will meet Indonesian government and business representatives next month to follow up on an economic cooperation pact signed last December, an official from South Korea's Commerce Ministry says. "Unlike the last meeting, which only involved talks, we will have signed an agreement on various strategic projects by then (next month's visit)," a deputy minister from the South Korean Commerce Ministry, Kim Junggwan, said Thursday.

Govt may exempt power projects from tendering

The government is considering exempting a number of planned power plant projects from lengthy tender processes by applying the much faster direct appointment mechanism instead. Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro said during a seminar on power-plant procurement mechanisms Thursday that direct appointment would be one way of ensuring a speedy solution to the country's electricity crises.

House agrees on investment bill with major changes

A working committee of the House Representative has finally concluded the prolonged debate on the investment bill, which is now expected to be endorsed by a House plenary session scheduled for March 29. "With a sigh of relief, we have finally arrived at the end of a long journey," Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu said in her capacity as the government's representative at what became the final meeting with the committee on the bill Thursday.

RI`s rubber output projected at 2.4 M tons in 2007

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia, the world`s second largest natural rubber producer, is expected to produce 2.4 million tons of rubber this year compared to 2 million tons in 2004, an official said. Indonesia whose rubber plantations cover an area of around 3 million hectares saw a 5-7 percent increase in its rubber output in each of the past three years, director of the Rubber Research Center (PPK) Chairil Anwar said here on Thursday.
