Number of Chinese and Australian tourist arrivals increasing: minister
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The number of Chinese and Australian tourists arriving in Indonesia in the January - October 2007 period increased significantly, according to the Data Center of the Ministry of Culture an Tourism here on Friday. "Chinese and Australian tourists arriving in Indonesia in the January-October 2007 period increased significantly, by 48.96 percent and 43.26 percent respectively, Head of the Data Center Hari Waluyo said.

Indonesian provincial govt threatens to shut down Newmont gold mine
Jakarta (ANTARA News/Asia Pulse) - The West Nusatenggara (NTB) provincial administration has threatened to shut down U.S. mining company PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara's (NNT) gold mines in the region if it continues to delay the process of divesting its shares. The deadline is December 20, 2007 for NNT to sell 10 per cent of its shares, spokesman of the regional administration Manggaukang Rabba told the newspaper Investor Daily.

Are biofuels a sustainable solution to climate change?
Many countries at this year’s climate change conference – including China, the European Union countries, and the U.S. – have set targets for the use of biofuels to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. Biofuels are liquid fuels made from animal or plant matter. Burning them to power vehicles can result in fewer emissions per unit of energy than using petroleum fuels. Their production may also promote rural development and national energy security.
