RI hopes Panasonic to produce LCD panels
The government is hoping Japanese electronics giant Panasonic will continue to invest in Indonesia despite the closure of two of the company's factories here recently. Industry Minister Fahmi Idris said Thursday in Jakarta that he would soon send a delegation to lobby Panasonic's executive board in Japan to keep investing in Indonesia.

Mobile-8 reports 513% increase in net profit
PT Mobile-8 Telekom, the owner of CDMA-based mobile phone service Fren, recorded a 513 percent increase in net profit during the nine months ending Sept. 30 on the back of hefty growth in its subscriber base. Government Asked to Increase Export Destinations
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The government is asked to increase the market of non-oil and gas exports due to the present sluggish exports. This is by increasing the export destination countries. This was said by economic observer, Hendri Saparini, responding to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reporting that export performance during September went down 0.91 percent compared to August, 2007.

Chevron Indonesia Plans to Expand Geothermal Power
JAKARTA - Chevron Geothermal Indonesia Ltd, a unit of Chevron Corp. plans to expand its geothermal power capacity to meet growing electricity demand in the Southeast Asian country, a company official said on Thursday. Chevron currently has geothermal power plants with a total capacity of around 365 megawatts (MW) in West Java province. "We are very keen to expand our geothermal capacity.
