Getting people out of their cars Teguh Utomo Atmoko, Jakarta There is a tremendous effort by the city administration to make people shift from private vehicles to public transit in order to ease traffic jams and to avoid wasting time and money. Yet, in a city with a population of over 12 million by day and close to 10 million by night, set in the middle of an urbanized region of about 25 million, most people still rely on private vehicles to get around.

Indonesia Min:Japan Wants To "Cherry Pick" In Trade Talks 09-16-06 08:39 AM EST SINGAPORE -(Dow Jones)- Indonesia's trade minister said Japan wants to "cherry pick" in the ongoing bilateral trade talks that the two countries began last year. "They want to take the best, they want to cherry pick," trade minister Mari Pangestu said at a seminar in Singapore Saturday. Indonesia and Japan began talks in 2005 to develop a bilateral agreement with initiatives to bolster both trade and investment.
