Has the corruption battle gone too far? Leonard Ginocchi, Washington D.C. There appears to be a growing debate concerning Indonesia's robust anti-corruption campaign. Views are beginning to emerge that the anti-corruption campaign may have gone too far and could be adversely affecting the country's economy and national development. Senior government officials and legislators have speculated that economic growth is being hindered by delays in initiating government development projects.

Government to draft law on special economic zones The Jakarta Post, Jakarta The government is planning a new law to legalize the creation of special economic zones (SEZs) in the country, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Boediono said during the weekend. Boediono said references to SEZs would also be included in the new taxation and customs laws. "We want a special law (for the SEZs). We haven't decided on the name yet," he told detik.com.
