in my view, the vast majority of the problems in indonesia are not economic, but political. until now successive governments have shied away from dealing with problems that impact upon economic development head-on, always preferring to defer dealing with them, or only dealing with them when it's far too late. creating a conducive economic environment for sustained economic development does not require a great deal of money.
