Mobile-8 to launch FWA access
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - A national telecommunication firm PT Mobile-8 Telecom will launch fixed wireless access (FWA) which uses code division multiple access (CDMA) technology late this week, a spokesperson said. "In view of the government`s decision on national frequency bandwidth we are offering our cellular phone subscribers fixed wireless access," corporate affairs director Zen Smith said here Thursday.

Investors Await Stable Indonesian Economy

RI finances to close the year on solid ground
Indonesia's finances are expected to wrap up the year in good shape, with the current account in surplus and the budget deficit ending up within a slightly lower-than-expected range of between 1 and 1.1 percent of gross domestic product. This was due to the likelihood of growth continuing to pick up during 2006's final quarter, said Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati, and was despite the recent weakening of the U.S. dollar, which could affect Indonesian exports.

Indonesian economy in 2007 predicted to grow better
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Ministry of Finance expressed optimism that the country`s economy in 2007 will grow better than this year`s economy due to an improvement of economic fundamentals starting from the third quarter of 2006, an official said. "With some improvements of the economic fundamentals, the year on year growth in fourth quarter of 2006 is expected to be better than in the previous quarter," Anggito Abimanyu, acting head of the ministry`s Fiscal Policy said here Wednesday.

Indonesia awards 18 new oil and gas contracts via direct offer
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry said it has awarded 18 new oil and gas contracts to eight consortia and 10 individual contractors, via direct offer. The contractors include the CNOOC-PT Gregori Gas Perkasa consortium, Star Energy Holdings Ltd., the ConocoPhilips-Statoil ASA consortium, Pearl Oil, the Japex-Premier Oil-Kufpec consortium; and the Transworld Exploration Ltd, Indoreach Exploration Ltd, Mitra Energy Ltd consortium.

Yudhoyono asks PLN not to hesitate to take action
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has called on PT PLN not to hesitate to take action in its efforts to speed up construction of power plants with a combined capacity of 10,000 MW to overcome power shortages in several parts of the country. "If PLN is doubtful about whether the action will run counter to the regulation or law, consult the superiors, be it the president or other top officials.
