Regions Offer Investment Projects Worth Rp59.6t
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The Indonesian Regional Investment Forum (IRIF) 2006 is promoting 45 projects in regions valued at US$6.55 billion, or Rp59.6 trillion. The offered projects include those in tourism, ports, markets, horticulture product processing and industrial regions. “Up until now, twelve provinces have registered,” said Chairman of IRIF 2006 Committee Irman Gusman yesterday (11/1).

Government to Evaluate Regional Regulations
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The government is going to supervise as well as evaluate a number of regional regulations. According to Justice and Human Rights Minister Hamid Awaludin, the plan was made to synchronize legal construction of regional regulations so that they will be in line with Law number 10/2004 concerning Setting Up of Legal Provisions.

Toll Road Projects Will be Hard to Sell
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Sofyan Wanandi, Head of the National Recovery Committee, said toll road construction projects will be the most difficult projects to be sold. This is because investors are not yet convinced that the government can provide legal certainty as regards land acquisition. Sofyan explained that the matter of land acquisition was actually an old problem in Indonesia, which still could not be solved.

Singaporean company to build fuel storage
The oil and gas refining and marketing firm Singapore Petroleum Co. Ltd. (SPC) will establish fuel storages to process oil for industry in West Java province in Indonesia, the mines and energy ministry said here Wednesday. Director of Processing and Commercial of the Mines and Energy Ministry Ery Soemarno said at the beginning of the second infrastructure summit that the SPC company will invest at least between 3 million and 6 million U.S. dollars.

Govt touts 'win-win' approach at summit
"Partnership" has become the government's mantra in its efforts to lure investors into the much-needed development of Indonesia's infrastructure. Raising the curtain Wednesday on the three-day Indonesia Infrastructure Conference and Exhibition, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono told private investors that the government is committed to cooperating with them to develop the country's infrastructure in a "win-win solution".

National Police nab software copiers
Officers of the National Police Cyber Crime Unit have arrested two alleged illegal software copiers in Jakarta in the latest crackdown on the illicit trade. The suspects are identified as PT Surya Toto Indonesia operational manager Sintawati and marketing director Juliawan Sari.raided two companies and confiscated evidence, such as 200 plus copies of illegal software and 300 units of desktop computers with the pirated software inside," National Police spokesman Sr. Comr.
