Govt to produce 800,000 gas stoves in 2007

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian government through the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small/Medium Enterprises will produce 800,000 gas stoves early in 2007, a member of cabinet said. "We have a program to double the production of gas stoves 800,000 early in 2007 because the production of 400,000 gas stoves this year had been postponed," Suryadharma Ali, Cooperatives and Small/Medium Enterprises Minister, said here Friday.

Bank Permata denies plan for layoff

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Publicly-listed Bank Permata on Friday denied a report that it would lay off some of its employees for productivity reasons. It was too early for the bank to come to a decision to cut its personnel in order to improve its performance, the bank`s vice president, Imam Teguh Saptono, told the Jakarta Stock Exchange (JSX).

Japan to return to RI as main investment destination

Osaka (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian government hopes Japanese businessmen and and their government would again make Indonesia their overseas priority investment destination following a plan to sign Economic Partnership Agreements later this month, a senior diplomat said. "In the past few years, their priority to invest to Indonesia has reduced because there are more potential competitors," Jusuf Anwar, Indonesian ambassador to Japan, said after a briefing to Japanese businessmen here Thursday.

Indonesian 3rd quarter GDP to surpass 2nd quarter

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Coordinating Minister for the Economy Budiono said he expects a pickup in economic growth in the third quarter, supported by an ongoing decline in domestic interest rates. GDP data for the three months to September is scheduled to be announced next week "I expect third quarter (year-on-year) GDP growth to be higher than in the second quarter," Budiono was quoted by AFP as telling reporters.

Standard Oil Price Remains

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The government will not alter the fuel oil and subsidized fuel oil prices until the second half of 2007. “For now until June 2007, we will use the same standard,” said Finance Minister Sri Mulyani in Jakarta yesterday (9/11). She said that the government and the House of Representatives (DPR) will discuss the oil price standard again if there is a change of the petroleum price abroad.

Siemens to set up 3G/W-CDMA network for Telkomsel

Siemens Communications Group has been awarded a contract to set up a 3G/W-CDMA network for Telkomsel, one of the country's major mobile communications network operators. Siemens Communications Indonesia said Thursday that the 3-year framework agreement between Siemens and Telkomsel foresaw the supply of Siemens 3G Radio Access Network (RAN) equipment, including PDH and SDH Microwave Systems, for a large part of Telkomsel's geographically vast network area.

India's Bajaj makes debut in RI market

Bajaj Auto, the second Indian motorcycle manufacturer to have entered Indonesia, officially launched its Pulsar sporty-look motorcycle in Jakarta on Thursday, marking the company's debut in the country's growing motorcycle market. With the launch of the new motorcycle, which has an engine capacity of 180 cc, the Indian company will be competing head to head with established manufacturers, such as Honda, Yamaha and Suzuki, which have also begun to boost the sales of their sporty-look models.

Japan eyes FTA breakthrough with Indonesia

Tokyo (ANTARA News) - Japan said Thursday it hoped to reach an outline deal on a free trade agreement with Indonesia later this month in time for President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's visit to Tokyo. "Japan wants to advance the negotiations on the economic partnership with Indonesia towards the visit of the president," Foreign Minister Taro Aso was quoted by AFP as saying in a statement after meeting Indonesian Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu.
