Irawan (not his real name) was thrilled at the opportunity of doing such work. He started as a junior financial consultant at the company six years ago. He enthusiastically plunged into various projects.

Prof. Ren Diekstra from the University of Leyden, the Netherlands, says that it can be cured. In fact the success rate reported from cases treated in his clinic is 96 percent. For some people it is similar to a phobia, a kind of irrational fear such as hydrophobia (fear of water), agoraphobia (fear of open places), claustrophobia (fear of enclosed spaces).

Emha protests with poems, songs By T. Sima Gunawan JAKARTA (JP): Say it with songs. Some sing to express love and joy, others to express their pain. But songs can also be a means of protest. Composer and singer Franky Sahilatua and poet-preacher Emha Ainun Nadjib recently released an album called Perahu Retak (Cracked Boat) in protest against social, economic and political injustices. Franky composed the songs and Emha wrote the lyrics.

Executives need to exercise to stay fit JAKARTA (JP): When the clock strikes at 5 p.m, Rani, a young working mother, rushes to a gym on the 10th floor of a high rise office building in the city center. Her office, an advertising agency, is on the fifth floor. Instead of using a lift, she prefers to climb ten stairs to the gym. "I need regular exercise to boost my physical and mental fitness. At first I did not realize the benefit of taking an aerobics class but it changed my habits," said Rani.

SUKARAJA, Lampung (JP): The news of the two wild elephants spread rapidly, and nearby villagers flocked to Sukaraja village in Teluk Semangka subdistrict, South Lampung, to see them. On Friday, July 19, one of the wild elephants was seen feasting on banana plants in the back yard of a villager's house. People gathered around despite efforts by four officials of South Bukit Barisan National Park to stop them.

Arriving at the unearthly hour of seven a.m. in Bangalore, the green capital of Karnataka state in southern India, I'm told by my gracious hosts that we're heading straight out of town. The point of the excursion is a visit to Mysore, city of sandalwood and ancient palaces, and ex-capital of a kingdom that was once the most powerful in India.
