Zulkifli wins Jambi election
JAMBI: A local poll organizer declared on Tuesday that running mates Zulkifli Nurdin and Anthony Zeidra Abidin, nominated by the National Mandate Party and Golkar Party, had officially won the Jambi direct election for governor and deputy governor.
The victory was confirmed after the final manual vote counting held by the Jambi General Elections Commission (KPU) showed that Zulkifli and Anthony led the vote count with 995,792 votes or some 80,03 percent of total votes in the election held on June 26. They were followed by pair Hasip Kalimuddin and Nasrun Arbain nominated by the National Awakening Party and the United Development Party with 165,825 votes and Usman Ermulan and Irsal Yunus nominated by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) with 82,620 votes.
Zulkifli was the former Jambi governor whose tenure ended in 2004. -- JP
