Zarima released from prison
TANGERANG: Former Indonesian badminton representative Zarima Mirafsur, also known as the Queen of Ecstasy, has been released from Tangerang Penitentiary for Children and Women after a month was taken off her sentence as part of Independence Day celebrations.
Zarima and 276 other inmates from five prisons in Tangerang were released Sunday. Another 2,244 inmates had a month taken from their sentences.
Zarima was arrested in 1997 in possession of 36,666 ecstasy pills and sentenced to four years in jail in early 1998. She was released on parole in late 1999.
Less than a year after her release she was caught at a drug party at Mercure Apartments in Grogol, West Jakarta.
She was jailed for a further three years and ordered to finish her previous sentence.-JP
