Newly inaugurated President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono promised on Tuesday that he would pursue better shorter- and longer-term working programs to ensure high but inclusive economic growth.

Speaking before the plenary meeting at the People's Consultative Assembly, Yudhoyono said that he had prepared both shorter- and longer-term working programs, covering 100 days, one year and five-year programs to achieve his targets.

"Our economy should continue to grow, and grow highly, in a fairer way, and inclusively," he told the plenary session.

Indonesia is one of the few countries in the world that booked positive growth last year. Indonesia grew by around 4 percent in the last two quarters.

He added that Indonesia's economy should improve to higher grounds with better human resources and technology.

Yudhoyono also promised that he would build a more dignified democracy in Indonesia, ensuring people's political rights but without sacrificing stability.

He also said his government would continue to uphold human rights and eliminate any kinds of discriminations.
