Youths urged to shun narcotics

BANDA ACEH, Aceh: Governor Syamsuddin Mahmud has asked youngsters to clean the province from drug abuse.

"Narcotics are among the problems faced by today's people in addition to war, terrorism, hunger, poverty and backwardness," said the governor in his written speech on the launching of the anti-narcotics campaign read by deputy Zainuddin AG yesterday.

Mahmud said the negative impact of the abuse of narcotics have troubled the world, according to Antara.

The campaign is held by the Aceh branch of the Association of Indonesian Moslem Intellectuals. (par)
