Youth Pledge Day commemoration

JAKARTA (JP): The office of the minister for youth affairs
and sports will hold a three-day event to commemorate the 68th
anniversary of Youth Pledge Day at the Graha Pemuda building in
Senayan, Central Jakarta.

Zulkifli Akbar, chairman of the organizing committee, said
that the traditional commemoration, which usually runs for a
week, has to be reduced to three weeks because of a lack of
interest among young people.

The series of activities, called Pekan Kreativitas Pemuda
(Youth Creativity Week), will start on Oct. 25. Youth Pledge Day
falls on Oct. 28.

The creativity week will feature high school bands, dramas,
traditional dances and dangdut competitions.

The organizer will also hold discussions on journalism,
photography and Internet for high school students.

Among the participating schools are SMUN 3, SMUN 70 and SMU
Al-Azhar. (yan)
