Youth contest tomorrow

JAKARTA (JP): A competition for young people called Gelar
Remaja Abad 21, will be staged at the National Monument Park
(Monas), Central Jakarta tomorrow from 9 p.m.

According to a statement from the Yayasan Model Muda (Youth
Model Association), about 53 senor high schools and 14 youth
groups throughout the city will participate in several
competitions, such as dances and cheerleading contests.

Participants would compete for a trophy from Sri Soemarsih
Surjadi Soedirdja, the wife of the Governor, and Rp 20 million
(US$8,695)in cash.

The event, organized by the city chapter of the Family Welfare
Movement and several other organizations, would be concluded with
a live musical drama performed by 280 models. (ste)
