Young swimmers get their big day

JAKARTA (JP): Five hundred junior swimmers are expected to
turn up for the 14th Governor Cup at the Jaya Ancol pool in North
Jakarta from Aug. 14 to Aug. 16.

The Indonesian Swimming Association's Jakarta branch said
yesterday that 17 clubs across the city had confirmed their
participation in the annual event. The participants will split
into four age groups -- under 10 years old, 11-12, 13-15 and over
15.

Organizers said they hoped to uncover new talent for the 2000
National Games in Surabaya. (yan)
