Yoke, not yolk

Yoke, not yolk

I have been reading The Jakarta Post for over four years now
and generally enjoy it very much.

Of course, like in every newspaper, sometimes printing errors
have occurred. In "Your Letters" of the Aug. 19 issue there was
one that should not go unnoticed.

Mr. E. Kartaamidjaja refers in his letter Bung Karno's
testament to the liberation of Indonesia from the Dutch colonial
yolk. However, a yolk is the yellow part of an egg.

What Mr. Kartaamidjaja presumably wants to refer to is the
liberation from the Dutch colonial yoke, literally a wooden frame
for attaching the necks of a pair of animals, figuratively used
for an oppressive burden.
