YOGYAKARTA: The launching of a book titled 50 Tahun
Pemerintahan Kodya Yogyakarta will mark the 50th anniversary of
the mayoralty of Yogyakarta on June 7, 1997,

A mayoralty spokesman, Boedhi Prasetyo, told Antara Wednesday
that the book traced the history of the mayoralty since it was
established in 1947.

The book is expected to become a reference for people wanting
to know about the mayoralty.

"It also contains suggestions, opinions and judgments from
public figures, cultural experts and former bureaucrats." Boedhi
said.

He said the inauguration of some projects, an official flag-
hoisting ceremony and special prayers would highlight the
anniversary.

Sports competitions would also be held, and shops are expected
to take part in the anniversary by offering special discounts,
