YCAB honors antidrug journalism

INDONESIA: Yayasan Cinta Anak Bangsa (YCAB), together with the
United Nations Information Center (UNIC), presented awards on
Saturday to nine journalists for their articles on juveniles and
narcotics, in conjunction with the International Day Against Drug
Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, which falls on June 26.

The second YCAB-UNIC Award winners for the straight news
category were Adi Prinantyo from Kompas daily, Endy Poerwanto
from Bali Pos daily and Sukaryono from Yogyakarta's Kedaulatan
Rakyat daily.

For local feature articles, the award went to Guntur Adi Sukma
from Medan's Analisa daily, MM Marina Nilangningsih from
Yogyakarta's Bernas daily and Dwi Wiyana from online news portal
Tempo News Room.

The winners for national feature articles were Subroto from
Republika daily, A Wisnu Hardana from PCplus weekly and Leony
Aurora from The Jakarta Post.

First-prize winners in each category will receive Rp 20
million (US$2,150) in cash, second-prize winners will get Rp 10
million, while the third-prize winners receive Rp 5 million. -- JP
