Yap Thiam Hien's biography

From Forum Keadilan

In law circles, Yap Thiam Hien is a familiar name. Yapusham (Foundation of Study Center for Human Rights) has made him a symbol of Indonesia's struggle for human rights. The choice of Yap is based on his consistent struggle for human rights in this country regardless of differences in race and religion. Almost his whole life was dedicated to the struggle for human rights, according to the foundation chairman T. Mulya Lubis (Forum Keadilan No. 18, Year I, Dec. 24, 1992).

As I belong to the younger generation, born in the 1970s, I came to know the name of Yap Thiam hien from reports in the media. But I want to know more about him, his struggle and his life. What about publishing Yap's biography by Forum Keadilan or Yapusham? The launching of the book could be done during the presentation of Yap Thiam Hien's award on Dec. 10, 1994, in coincidence with World Human Rights Day. Through the book we hope the younger generation will become aware of and continue Yap's struggle.
