'Yanomamo' show at Pattimura

JAKARTA (JP): The Jakarta International School's Pattimura Elementary School is presenting the musical Yanomamo today at the Pattimura Courtyard in conjunction with the Pattimura's annual Arts Festival.

The Yanomamo is the largest Amerindian tribe living in the Amazon rain forest. Yanomamo was written in 1988 by the World Wildlife Fund for Nature to promote awareness among children and their families about the Amazon rain forest and the Amerindians.

The performances, at 8 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., will involve all the school's students.

All the costumes and decorations have been made during art classes. The souvenir booklet that contains the program and the lyrics of the songs are decorated by fifth grade students' artwork. Jin Joo Kim, a fourth grade student, has designed a Yanomamo T-shirt that features the Pattimura tree.

Each grade level of the Pattimura Elementary School will contribute a special part. The narration will be provided by the fifth graders. (24)
