Wrong address hampers revenues

JAKARTA (JP): The city revenue office has said that it is facing difficulties in collecting land and building taxes from people because around one to two percent of the total 1.2 million tax payers have registered under false addresses.

"They are difficult to be traced," said Chief of the City Revenue Office Fauzi Alvie Yassin to the Republika daily on Wednesday.

The false addresses occur from many property owners having sold their land and buildings without giving any information to the revenue office.

Fauzi said that the city had expected to receive around Rp 208 billion (US$95 million) from land and building taxes (PBB) but as of this month had only collected Rp 168.9 billion. (mas)
