Writing Contest for Teachers

JAKARTA (JP): The Book Center Office of the Ministry of
Education and Culture is holding the 6th writing contest for
teachers of elementary, junior and senior high schools, using the
environmental issue as the theme.

The contest is held to explore teacher's potential in
writing, to provide script bank with back up writings, and to
provide elementary and middle education with environment books.

The first prize of for national level is Rp 2 million
(US$935), while provincial level offer Rp 1,5 million ($702). The
script must be received before Aug. 5 by the organizing
committee.

Meanwhile the head of the Book Center Office Taya Paembonan
also announced that private publishers could publish researches
financed by the Ministry of Education and Culture.

"This step is taken to publicize research reports and to give
a chance to the people to know the result of the research," said
Taya at a press conference yesterday. (01)
