Writing contest extended

JAKARTA (JP): A writing contest on the discipline campaign being staged by the city administration, originally scheduled to end on Aug. 20, will be extended until Sept. 10.

"The extension of the contest is expected to get more input from the public about the implementation of development programs in Jakarta," said K. Tarigan, chairman of the committee of the contest, which is being held in conjunction with the commemoration of the golden anniversary of Indonesia's independence.

Not wanting to disclose the number of participants already registered, Tarigan said that the submitted essays should have already been published in newspapers or other printed media.

Winners will be awarded between Rp 500,000 (US$227.27) and Rp 1.5 million each, he sad. (hhr)
