World Vision clarifies
Allow us to make a correction to a news story published on
page 4 of The Jakarta Post of Feb. 2 under the title "Pope urges
Catholics to help tsunami victims" as it contains some inaccurate
information about our institution.
In paragraph 14 of the story it is written "... following a
report on the adoption and religion conversion of 300 Acehnese
children by World Vision, an international Christian
organization ..." This is an erroneous statement because the
institution reported to have adopted and converted the religion
of these 300 children is not World Vision. In fact, we are
opposed to this action. World Vision is not involved at all in
the adoption and conversion activities and we feel seriously
disadvantaged by this inaccurate reporting.
Until now World Vision has prioritized only the distribution
of food and non-food aid, sanitation facilities, medicine and
educational support for tsunami victims such as child-friendly
spaces.

Note: Thank you for your correction. The above paragraph
should read "... following a report... by World Help..." We
