World retailers to meet
JAKARTA (JP): The Intercontinental Group of Department Stores will hold its 49th general assembly here between June 11 and June 14, where topics concerning retailing will be discussed, their president said.
Hari Darmawan, the president-elect of the group, said Saturday that the discussion will focus on the prospects of retailing in Asia.
The group's executive director, Emil A. Senn, said that in the general assembly, Darmawan, the president of retailer PT Matahari Putra Prima, will officially take over the presidency of the group for the 1995-1997 term.
According to Emil, Darmawan is the first Asian to be the group's president. Members have total annual sales of about US$60 billion. (32)
