Workers threaten to boycott poll

SAMARINDA, East Kalimantan: Workers at two plywood companies in East Kalimantan threatened on Monday to boycott the July 5 presidential election unless the government intervened in their dispute with the companies.

Some 3,000 workers of PT Kalimanis Plywood Industry (KPI) and PT Santi Murni Plywood have been on strike for the past two weeks over unpaid salaries.

"We will vote only after our salaries are paid," said Giartini, one of the striking workers from PT KPI. -- JP
