Workers stage protest over severance pay

JAMBI: Some 120 former employees of a timber company here staged a protest on Thursday at the office of the Jambi provincial government, demanding the government force the company to pay them the severance pay they say they are entitled to.

Gondo, a protester, said if the government failed to resolve the matter, the workers would boycott the upcoming presidential election.

The workers were dismissed by the company, known locally by its acronym PT PSUD, in May. -- JP
