Workers stage protest

JAKARTA: Around 300 workers from PT Indo Panca Garmindo staged a protest rally in front of the Central Jakarta District Court on Jl. Gajah Mada on Wednesday demanding the court delay a verdict on the company's bankruptcy.

Wearing blue uniforms, the workers also requested the court to order the company to pay its 1,600 workers the wages owed to them for the three previous months.

PT Indo Panca Garmindo, which operates in Pulogadung, North Jakarta, owes around Rp 315 billion to five companies.

Chairman of the company's labor union Syafrudin said their protest at the court was also to request the panel of judges to order the company's director, Yanto Sukamto, to resolve the payment problems.

"We haven't received our salaries for three months. We want to know where we stand," he said. -- JP
