Workers demand special cars

SEMARANG: About 100 employees from a cement factory staged a
protest here on Monday, demanding their company bus them to and
from work.

The workers said PT Kino Sentra Industries' transportation
allowance of Rp 250 (US$0.03 cents) a day was insufficient and
should be abolished. The company should provide employees with
special buses instead, they said.

In the protest, held in front of the Semarang's Manpower and
Transmigration Office, the workers also called for the company to
abolish its employment contract system, which they said was
unfair. -- JP
