Workers complain about late salary

BOGOR: Around 800 workers at doll manufacturer PT Dae Wong on Jl. Raya Ciawi complained on Thursday that they had not received their January salary yet.

One of the workers, Herlangga, said the company has been late in paying the salaries for the last few months. The 30-year-old employee also complained that each worker was charged Rp 700 (US 6.9 cents) for an insurance premium with state-owned insurance company PT Jamsostek but that they had not received the membership card. Jamsostek has reportedly claimed that PT Dae Wong stopped paying the premium three years ago.

PT Dae Wong spokesman, Ibrahim Maksan, confirmed the company was often late in paying their employees due to decreasing orders from Italy. He said the workers received a monthly salary of Rp 417,000 based on the regional minimum wage.

However, Maksan said PT Dae Wong had agreed to pay the premium. -- JP
